Jane's Addiction band cancels tour after frontman punched guitarist in mid-song fight

The band Jane's Addiction has cancelled their tour after mid-song fight during their recent show in Boston.
Quickly going viral online, the rock band's gig on Friday (13 September) was interrupted when the physical altercation broke out on stage.
Fans apparently began to hear leading man Perry Farrell, 65, swearing into his mic and he then punched guitarist Dave Navarro, 57.
Crew members quickly rushed onto the stage to hold him back, with the rest of the concert being cancelled.

Rumours quickly spread online as to what had sparked the incident as others worried it might end the iconic US group, responsible for songs such as 'Jane Says' and 'Been Caught Stealing'.
And this afternoon, Jane's Addiction have confirmed they won't be playing live together any time soon as they are taking 'some time away'.
The incident left fans in disarray (Youtube/WatchThisOne)
The rock band took to social media to release the following statement: "To all the fans,
"The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.
"Refunds for the cancelled dates will be issued at your point of purchase - or if you purchased from a third-party resale site like StubHub, SeatGeek, etc, please reach out to them direct.
"Thank you, Jane's Addiction."

Jane's Addiction's show at the Leader Bank Pavilion on Friday was part of their comeback tour after the original line-up reunited back in May for their first show in 14 years.
But it's fair to say after this announcement following the rockers' rumble, it might be their last time together - yet again.
Farrell's wife, Etty Lau, later released a statement on social media when she said the singer's 'frustration had been mounting' due to some tech issues he'd been complaining about.
Lau said: "He felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night.

"But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it."
Lau claimed that Farrell swung for Navarro after 'screaming to be heard' due to the stage volume being too loud.
She went onto allege that her husband was 'punched' in the stomach three times while being bundled off stage, before later 'breaking down' due to the events which had unfolded.

Iconic band Jane's Addiction break silence after lead singer had shocking onstage fight with guitarist
The band offered fans a 'heartfelt apology' in wake of the onstage scuffle

Jane's Addiction have now spoken out on the shock punch-up which unfolded in front of thousands of fans during their gig in Boston on Friday (13 September).
Perry Farrell's wife has already spoken out in his defence after he came to blows with guitarist Dave Navarro, claiming that there had been mounting 'tension and animosity' between the band before everything exploded onstage.
The dramatic bust-up occurred while the foursome were on stage at the Leader Bank Pavilion as part of their comeback tour after the original line-up reunited in May for their first show in fourteen years.
But their Boston show was more of a Royal Rumble than a rockers reunion, as Perry appeared to shoulder-barge his bandmate while they played their hit track, 'Ocean Size', before trying to lamp Navarro in the face.
The band have made an announcement about their upcoming gigs following the onstage fight (YouTube/WatchThisOne)
It culminated with the vocalist, 65, being wrestled off stage by stunned crew members and reportedly bassist Eric Avery, 59.
People praised Navarro, 57, for keeping his cool throughout the scuffle, but a lot of Jane's Addiction fans feared that the incident could spell the end of the legendary rock group.
The band has since shared an announcement regarding the situation to social media.
In a statement shared to their Instagram story, Jane's Addiction wrote: "We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night.
"As a result, we will be cancelling tomorrow night's show in Bridgeport.
"Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase - or if you purchased via a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek, etc) reach out to them directly," the statement added. "Thank you, Jane's Addiction."

There has been no further confirmation regarding the fate of the rest of the tour - which is scheduled across the US and Canada up until October.
According to Farrell's wife, Etty Lau, it all kicked off because the singer's 'frustration has been mounting' due to some technical issues he had been complaining about.
In a social media post, she explained: "He felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night.
"But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it."

Oasis respond to ‘dynamic pricing’ system as band announce two extra 2025 tour dates
Oasis came under fire after fans had to fork out more for tickets over the weekend

Brenna Cooper

Oasis have addressed the backlash over Ticketmaster's use of dynamic pricing for their reunion tour tickets.
Last Saturday (31 August) saw tickets for the highly anticipated reunion go on general sale, however thousands of fans were left heartbroken after lengthy queues and 'crashing' websites meant they missed out.
One thing in particular which caught the ire of fans was the use of surge pricing on Ticketmaster, which saw the cost of tickets rise from the £150 mark to around £355 later on in the day.

Ticketmaster has since defended the use of dynamic pricing, releasing a statement which said 'promoters and artists set ticket prices' and that they are either 'fixed or market-based'.
Meanwhile, tickets have since appeared on secondary resale sites for thousands of pounds, despite the band warning that tickets purchased outside of Twickets or Ticketmaster fan-to-fan would be cancelled.
Oasis have now shared their response to the dynamic pricing debacle, releasing a statement which says at no time did they have 'any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used' prior to tickets going on sale.
"It needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used," the statement read.
"While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band's management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations."
Meanwhile new dates have been added in London (Vuk Valcic/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)
The statement added: "All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve"
The update comes after the band decided to add two more dates at London's Wembley stadium to their tour, with fans able to get tickets through an 'invitation-only ballot' system.
Sharing the news in a statement on social media, the band wrote: "UK. Two extra Wembley Stadium shows have been added due to phenomenal demand.
"Tickets will be sold by a staggered, invitation-only ballot process. Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many UK fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster. More details to follow."
The newly announced concerts will take place on 27 and 28 September 2025. Further details about how the ballot will work are yet to be announced, but the news will certainly delight fans who missed out first time round.Featured Image Credit: Dave Hogan/Getty/LADbible

Linkin Park rumoured to reunite for 2025 tour with Chester Bennington replacement as band starts announcement countdown
A mysterious countdown has appeared on Linkin Park's website

Michael Slavin

Linkin Park are rumoured to be reuniting for a tour in 2025, and have lined up a potential replacement for vocalist Chester Bennington.
Bennington died in 2017, aged just 41. The band has not toured since then, following an announcement of an ‘indefinite hiatus’.
The late-great Linkin Park singer died by suicide, having been outspoken in the past about his mental health struggles.

Rumours have been flying for a while that the band would be bringing in a new vocalist, with most indicating it would be a female voice.
This has intensified however due to the band releasing a 100-hour announcement countdown.
At the time of writing, the band have placed a livestream on their YouTube channel, which also features on LinkinPark.com, set to run out in just over a day.
Taking over the role of Bennington in the band would be a heavy responsibility.
Beyond the obvious pressure of taking over from the late vocalist, his unique vocal range (which contributed to the band's genre-bending success) will be hard to replicate.
Play
Mike Shinoda, another member of Linkin Park who would often rap on their records, spoke out following Bennington's death about the ongoing grief he felt.
He claimed that he had even considered giving up on making music in the aftermath.
He spoke to Howard Stern saying: "For me, it just felt like too much. To get back on it and try to do some version of music and also be seen through the lens of what had happened… it was like being a member of a club that I didn’t want to join.”
The band released a song 'Lost' last year that featured the voice of Bennington.
Speaking about this song, Shinoda went on to tell Stern: "It’s like an old photo. It can be bittersweet but to have forgotten that it existed and then to hear it and be teleported back there, that’s a gift."
The band is reportedly looking to replace the late Bennington with a female vocalist. (Francesco Castaldo/Archivio Francesco Castaldo/Mondadori via Getty Images)
When asked in the past about rumours surrounding a reunion, Shinoda told Revolver Magazine: "Rumors always go around. People always ask what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there’s something to tell you, we will tell you.
"When there’s an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you’re hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it."
While we are still holding our breath, the announcement is being teased on LinkinPark.com.
Though some fans may find it bizarre to see a Linkin Park sans-Bennington, if the band are confident it's the right thing - fans will trust them and surely lose it.
If you’ve been affected by any of these issues and want to speak to someone in confidence, please don’t suffer alone. Super Bowl national anthem singer's tragedy after band died in plane crash
A total tragedy that changed her forever

Tom Earnshaw

Reba McEntire wowed crowds as she sang the USA national anthem ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.
But her story is one marred and inspired by tragedy.
The US national anthem and NFL has a strong history, with 'The Star Spangled Banner' performed before American football games throughout the NFL season.
With tens of millions of more eyes on the Super Bowl, the topic of who sings the anthem before the big game is often hotly discussed.

It has always attracted big names, including Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Pink, and Beyonce.
Super Bowl 58 saw iconic American country singer Reba MeEntire take to the microphone. She was also accompanied by deaf actor Daniel Durant, who signed it in American Sign Language for those of hard or no hearing.
The performance was classy and iconic, and the perfect intro to a sporting occasion that personifies the American subculture.
It was the latest in her incredible career which unfortunately coincides with one of the saddest events of her life.
In was in the early hours of 16 March, 1991, that she was given the awful news that eight of her bandmates had died in a plane crash.
Barry King/WireImage
For the 1991 tour of the United States, two planes had been chartered for the band to get from tour date to tour date.
McEntire herself instead travelled separately in another plane with her then-husband, Narvel Blackstock, and stylist Sandi Spika.
In the early hours of 16 March, she was awoken by a phone call - it was Roger Woolsey, their private pilot.
McEntire and her husband were told that one of the two planes had crashed, with one of the wings hitting the side of a mountain in San Diego.
Everyone on board the plane was instantly killed, with the crash described by those at the scene as a 'huge ball of fire' that could be seen by those driving nearby.
That included eight of her band members - Chris Austin, Kirk Cappello, Joey Cigainero, Paula Kaye Evans, Jim Hammon, Terry Jackson, Anthony Saputo, and Michael Thomas.

The pilot Donald Holmes and his co-pilot Chris Hollinger also died in the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determined that the probable cause of the accident was related to 'improper pilot planning' with the co-pilot trying to fly through an area they weren't familiar with, as well as the 'pilot's failure to maintain proper altitude and clearance over mountainous terrain'.
"I don't guess it ever quits hurting," McEntire said to Oprah Winfrey in 2012; some 21 years after the awful night.
Just seven months after the fatal crash, she released her 16th album, For My Broken Heart.
It was dedicated to those who died and contained songs about 'all measure of suffering', the press at the time said.
@Reba/Facebook

Three years later, McEntire won her second Grammy and come the year 2000, she had firmly moved from 'Queen of Country' to a modern day celebrity through the release of a sitcom, Reba.
A quarter of a century after the crash in 2016, McEntire returned to the crash site.
She posted: "I feel in my heart that they know we still miss them so much. My love and prayers to all the families and friends."
