With the Princess having captured much of the nation’s hearts, her death really rocked the country and screens were filled with tributes to her.
And among this, Brits saw a lot of the two young princes, Harry and William, in the press as they lost their mum.
During an interview with ITV in January 2023, the Duke of Sussex opened up about the grieving process and the crowds that gathered outside of Kensington Palace.

"Everyone knows where they were and what they were doing the night my mother died," he said.

"I cried once, at the burial, and you know I go into detail about how strange it was and how actually there was some guilt that I felt and I think William felt as well, by walking around the outside of Kensington Palace.
"There were 50,000 bouquets of flowers to our mother, and there we were shaking people's hands, smiling. I've seen the videos, right, I looked back over it all.
"And the wet hands that we were shaking, we couldn't understand why their hands were wet, but it was all the tears that they were wiping away.
"Everyone thought and felt like they knew our mum, and the two closest people to her, the two most loved people by her, were unable to show any emotion in that moment."

The highly anticipated interview came ahead of the release of Harry's 2023 autobiography, Spare.
The book ended up becoming the 'fastest-selling non-fiction book in history' - selling 400,000 copies across hardback, e-book and audio format.
And the contents of that book is far from forgotten by many of

A few of the topics covered in the book was his admission to once using mushrooms, how he had Googled wife Meghan Markle's sex scenes in Suits when they first started dating - which he described as a 'mistake' - and of course, how he lost his virginity to an 'older woman'.

Prince Harry has recalled how he lost his virginity behind a 'busy pub' to an 'older woman' who 'spanked him'.
Harry, 38, revealed the details in his new autobiography Spare. The encounter happened in 2001, meaning Harry was attending Eton at the time and was 16 or 17 years old.
The Duke of Sussex recalled how he was taken for lunch by a royal bodyguard named Marko, who was investigating rumours he had been taking drugs.
At the time, King Charles' press office had been alerted that a newspaper had evidence that Harry had been using recreational drugs.

Marko told him: “They’ve asked me to discover the truth, Harry.”
“I suspected that he was referring to the recent loss of my virginity, a humiliating episode with an older woman who liked horses a lot and treated me like a young stallion," wrote Harry.
“I mounted her quickly, after which she spanked me on the backside and sent me on my way. One of my many errors was to do it in a field, just behind a crowded pub.”
Asking Marko what he meant, Harry realised he had been talking about something different.
He told him: “About your drug taking.”

While Harry told Marko that the rumours were "lies", he has since admitted to taking drugs in his life, and also addressed this in his book, explaining he was "offered a line" for the first time aged 17, but added that it "wasn't very fun".
"Of course, I had been taking cocaine at that time," he wrote. "At someone's house, during a hunting weekend, I was offered a line, and since then, I had consumed some more.
"It wasn't very fun, and it didn't make me feel especially happy as seemed to happen to others, but it did make me feel different, and that was my main objective. To feel. To be different.
"I was a seventeen-year-old willing to try almost anything that would alter the pre-established order. At least, that's what I was trying to convince myself of."

In the book, Harry also opens up about wearing a Nazi uniform as a costume to a birthday party in 2005, claiming brother Prince William and Kate Middleton urged him to wear the outfit.
"I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said," Harry writes in his book, according to Page Six.
Spare - which is set to be released next week - will tell Prince Harry's life story with 'raw, unflinching honesty,' says Penguin Random House.
The book will be released on 10 January.
