YouTubers terrifying experience after spending night in the ‘world’s deepest hotel’ over 1,300ft below ground
They had to traverse faults and jump 100-foot freefalls to get there

Bec Oakes

Taking an annual family trip to the same holiday resort in Spain might be nice, but have you ever thought about staying something a little less conventional?
If you're looking for a hotel that's a bit more extreme, North Wales might just have the place for you.
Deep inside a former slate mine below the mountains of Snowdonia lies the world's deepest underground hotel.
The four cabins that make up Go Below's Deep Sleep are located 1,375 feet below the Earth's surface - deeper than the height of the top floor of New York's Empire State Building (1,250 feet).
But an overnight stay in the underground lodgings is not for the faint-hearted.
More than 1,300 feet below ground lies the world's deepest underground hotel (YouTube/TheBurntChip)
To start, you have to embark on a 45-minute hike led by expert guides just to get to the mine's entrance, after which you'll traverse through the dark mine to get to the cabins.
And, once there, you'll have to wrap up warm for the night as the average temperature in the deepest cabin sits at a cool 10 degrees celcius.
Go Below describes a night underground as 'an experience like no other,' and this experience costs between £375 and £575 for two people.
Although, one YouTuber who's spent the night there was left terrified by his experience.
Josh - also known as TheBurntChip - shared footage from his night at Deep Sleep with fellow content creator ArthurTV in a video that has been viewed more than a million times.
Following the aforementioned hike to the entrance of the mine, the pair began their journey underground.
Travelling through the mines with only flashlights attached to their helmets, they came to a precarious set of steps that would lead them closer to their final destination.
YouTuber Josh shared the terrifying experience of getting the hotel in a video that has been viewed more than one million times (YouTube/TheBurntChip)
"I don't want to go down there anymore," Josh said.
But that would turn out to be the least of his worries. The friends then had to traverse a number of faults before jumping down a 100-foot drop - using safety equipment, of course.
Their somewhat treacherous journey continued as they waded through water and encountered further drops, before finally reaching their accommodation.
The hotel itself featured electric lighting, running water and an actual toilet, which considering you're more than 1,300 feet underground, really isn't too shabby.
Cosy bedrooms included wrought iron beds complete with pillows, quilts and fluffy blankets.
After enjoying a well-earned meal, the lads settled down for the night, with Josh admitting that it was 'freezing' down in the mines.
Reflecting on their experience after ascending back to Earth, he said: "Whilst hotels get higher and higher and even more luxurious, what Go Below are doing is truly unique.
"Every now and then, it's important to get back down to Earth and get lost in the excitement of a big old adventure.
"I might never recover from that free fall jump," he admitted.Featured Image Credit: YouTube via TheBurntChip

Passengers on £680,000 cruise must leave ship every night and stay in a hotel
Villa Vie Residences' Odyssey cruise ship has encountered a few technical issues ahead of its now delayed around-the-world trip

Tom Earnshaw

Passengers on an around-the-world cruise ship voyage setting some people back a whopping £680,000 have been left having to leave the ship every single night and stay in a hotel.
The bizarre turn of events has impacted hundreds of people who have booked to stay on the Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship, which takes passengers around the world on a three and a half year trip of the planet.

Not a new ship by any means, the vessel is over 30 years old but still going strong. Just not as strong as it would like, given the recent turn of events.
The Ville Vie Odyssey ship has encountered a few issues (Villa Vie Residences)
You see, the global trip was actually meant to take to the open seas earlier this year, with a May departure time on the cards.
Places such as Japan and Mexico would have been visited on the holiday, which all in all, would have traversed seven continents and 147 countries.
The problem is that the departure never happened, with the journey on ice and passengers left waiting due to significant issues with the ship.
Mechanical problems have left Villa Vie Odyssey rooted in Belfast - in the very same shipyard Titanic was built - until it can be fixed.
And while passengers can enjoy the ship for all it is worth during the day, they have been told they must leave the vessel every single evening.
The ship needs vital repairs before it can eventually set sail (Villa Vie Residences)
A total of 200 paying customers are currently being put up in city hotels by Villa Vie Residences, with the firm also paying for their living expenses.
One passenger, Holly Hennessey, told the BBC: "We can spend all day aboard the ship, and they provide shuttle buses to get on and off.
"We can have all of our meals and they even have movies and trivia entertainment, almost like cruising except we're at the dock."
Fellow passengers Lanette Canen and Johan Bodin have documented their journey on their YouTube channel, where the revealed they still have to pay a $3,500 (£2,650) a month fee for their cabin.
Lanette Canen and John Bodin outright own one of the cabins on the cruise ship, though they do have to spend a monthly fee. (Lanette Canen)
According to Sebastian Stokkendal, a marketing manager for Villa Vie Residences, issues with the rudder shafts, steel work, and engine should be fixed soon.
In an email to the Associated Press, he said: "We expect a very anticipated successful launch next week where we will head to Bremerhaven, Amsterdam, Lisbon, then across the Atlantic for our Caribbean segment."
The cruise liner was meant to take passengers to 147 countries, 425 destinations, 7 continents, and 100 islands during the 3.5 year journey.
Those paying to be on board for the entire journey have to pay a staggering £680,000.
You can just choose to do a segment of the tour, with more than 15 individual itineraries including touring the Caribbean as well as India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.Featured Image Credit: Villa Vie Residences

Visitors issued warning over UK town with world’s most famous bonfire night
Brits flock from all ends of the country to attend the famous bonfire

Olivia Burke

As bonfire night nears, many Brits will be making plans for how to get in on the fun this weekend.
And one town which boasts a world famous bonfire is obviously going to draw in bigger crowds than most.
But there's a big catch this year...

Thousands of Brits flock to Lewes Bonfire each year, enticed by the torch-lit processions, displays in the sky and obviously its massive bonfire.
But unless you're a local in Lewes, East Sussex, organisers have urged people to find somewhere else to watch the fireworks.
This year's revelries fall on Saturday (4 November) and punters need to get their hands on a ticket to grant them entry to every aspect of the event.
But these are a hot commodity - as tens of thousands of people descend on the town to join in the Guy Fawkes fun.
The multi-agency group behind Lewes Bonfire has discouraged people from further afield from bothering attending.
As if falls on a Saturday, organisers fear the town's narrow streets will be 'overcrowded' during the ghoulish gathering.
Trains won't even call at Lewes, Glynde, Southease, Falmer and Cooksbridge after 3.00pm on the day to stop last-minute spectators.

Road closures and diversions will also be in place throughout the town where the bonfire takes place over the weekend.
Lewes District Council said there is 'serious concerns' that the streets will be jam-packed with pedestrians.
A spokesperson said: "Emergency services, local authorities and transport operators have been planning for the celebrations for many months.
"Their message is clear, please do not travel to Lewes Bonfire."
Authorities are concerned for public safety due to swarms of people 'combined with significant amounts of fireworks'.
Doug Marshall, the group manager for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, urged non-residents to choose 'locally organised events rather than coming to Lewes'.

He explained: "Crowded streets make it harder for us to get to people in an emergency, and river levels are high which may make it harder to move around safely."
According to the council, nearly 1,000 injuries have been reported at the event since 2010.
The popular bonfire is organised by seven societies, many of which date back to the 19th Century.
The torch-lit traditions have made the event world famous, with people flocking there from across the country.

Booking.com releases statement after hotel rooms cancelled on Oasis dates
Hotel prices are surging for Oasis concert dates in Manchester, London, Dublin, Cardiff, and Edinburgh

Tom Earnshaw

Booking.com has issued a statement after people who had hotel rooms secured for Oasis concerts reported their reservations being cancelled.
The reunion of Oasis has sent millions in to a craze, with 14 huge concerts announced across the United Kingdom and Ireland as both Liam and Noel Gallagher commit to appearing back on stage together for the first time in 15 years.
More than one million tickets will go on sale on Saturday morning (31 August), with a presale set to take place on Friday (30 August) with many desperate to secure the goods ahead of the weekend.

As well as tickets, Britpop lovers are already securing hotels for the gigs as demand skyrockets across the concert dates.
It's seen prices skyrocket in Manchester, Dublin, London, Edinburgh, and Cardiff, with demand seeing room prices more than double in some instances.
One set of screenshots shared to X (formerly Twitter) showed the price of hotels in Dublin for the dates of the two Oasis concerts in the city, comparing the price before the announcement and afterwards.
One hotel went up from €149 a night to €410 a night, with the general price range going from between €150 and €300 a night to a minimum of €310 in the city and highs of €520 for a one night stay.

In the UK, reservations in two Manchester hotels were cancelled across the dates of the four Oasis concerts taking place at the city's Heaton Park.
Customers with reservations at the Maldron Hotel Manchester City and Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter for 11, 12, 19, and 20 July, 2025, were emailed telling them their bookings could not be honoured.
Speaking to LADbible, Dalata Hotel Group, which runs Maldron Hotels said a 'technical error' had let too many rooms be booked across those dates. The same error also let punters later book the rooms for higher prices, with these bookings also cancelled, the company confirmed.
Rooms booked prior to 26 August will be honoured, Dalata confirmed, with the company apologising for the cancellations for bookings on the days following this.

With hotel prices surging across the five cities where Oasis gigs have been confirmed, LADbible spoke to Booking.com about your rights when it comes to increased prices and the rare occasions where your room might be cancelled.
A spokesperson for Booking.com said: "While hotels and other accommodation are in complete control of their availability and prices that they list on Booking.com, we do have strict guidelines and codes of conduct, and if we are made aware of any practices that break our terms and conditions then we can take action as needed.
"This can be to ask that the partner act fairly and honour bookings they have already confirmed to our mutual customers, or offer viable alternatives.
"In cases where an accommodation is unable to honour a reservation we will intervene on behalf of the customer as a next step."

Where can I buy tickets?
Fans will be able to buy tickets from 9am on Saturday, 31 August from Ticketmaster, SEE Tickets and GIGSANDTOURS. The Dublin gigs will go on sale an hour earlier at 8am.Featured Image Credit: Engelke/ullstein bild via Getty Images/Beata Zawrzel/NurPhoto via Getty Images

Hotel responds after cancelling bookings for four Oasis concert days and 'reselling for higher prices'
Hotels are selling out for Oasis dates across Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Dublin, and Cardiff

Tom Earnshaw

A hotel chain has clarified reports after being accused of cancelling bookings for the four days that Oasis concerts are being held in the area before allowing customers to later 'rebook at a higher price'.
It was confirmed on Tuesday that iconic rock band Oasis has reformed, with Liam and Noel Gallagher settling their differences some 15 years years after the band fell apart ahead of their headline slot at Rock en Sine festival in Paris.
Noel quit the band, stating he could no longer work with his younger brother. But that's now behind them, according to the brothers themselves, with a huge 14 date UK and Ireland tour announced alongside the long-awaited reunion.

With tickets set to be released on general sale this Saturday - after a presale that takes place on Friday - there is set to be a mad dash for tickets with four million people reportedly set to try and get their hands on the chance to see the Mancunian brothers in the flesh. Just over one million tickets will be available in total across all dates.
The huge demand for tickets has also seen people book up hotels up and down the country, with Brits and the Irish ready to go wherever they need to travel in order to see Oasis live once more - or for the first time if you're from a younger generation.
Hotels have sold out, with prices also surging - and in some cases more than doubling - across booking websites.
One hotel group has now spoken to LADbible after customers complained that their bookings across the four Oasis concerts dates in Manchester were being cancelled, with the region's night time economy adviser claiming the rooms were put back on sale for 'three times the price' originally paid.

Oasis will do four homecoming shows at Manchester's Heaton Park on 11, 12, 19, and 20 July, 2025, with 80,000 fans expected to show up at each concert.
Punters who had booked rooms for these dates at the Maldron Hotel Manchester City and Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter found their bookings cancelled.
Bringing attention to the issue, Greater Manchester's Night Time Economy Advisor, Sacha Lord, posted on X: "Hey Maldron Hotels. I'm being contacted by several people who booked your hotel for the Oasis concert, to say their rooms have just been cancelled and are now back up for three times the price.
"I'm sure this is a 'computer error'... easy to correct. Do the right thing."

Dalata Hotel Group, which runs Maldron Hotels, spoke to LADbible about the situation in which the company confirmed rooms had been cancelled.
But they clarified this was due to a 'technical error', with more rooms able to be booked than were available. Dalata Hotel Group also confirmed that customers were later able to book rooms at its two Manchester hotels for a 'higher price', something the company also put down to 'the same technical error'.
Rooms booked prior to 26 August will be honoured, Dalata confirmed, with the company apologising for the cancellations for bookings on the days following this.

A spokesperson for Dalata Hotel Group said: "Due to a technical error with our booking system on 26 and 27 August 2024, substantially more rooms were booked than were available for the nights of the Oasis concerts on 11 /12 /19 /20 July 2025 at Maldron Hotel Manchester City and Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter.
"As a result, we are unable to honour all bookings made on these dates, and we are actively engaging with customers regarding their bookings.
"The hotels are currently not taking any bookings while we investigate the issue. This is not an attempt to resell rooms at inflated prices, rather an overbooking issue due to a technical error with our booking systems.
"Additionally, due to the same technical error, a small number of customers were able to book the rooms at a higher price later that evening. We will also be unable to accommodate these bookings.
"‌We will be honouring all bookings made prior to 26 August. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused."
